Λίγα λόγια για το περιεχόμενο του masterclass από τον Chris Cooper:
Little Red Riding Hood: 60 Years of Theatre-in-Education
On 15 September 1965 The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry, performed the world’s first TiE programme in the world (at John Coulson Primary school). It was the beginning of a radical theatre movement that has impacted upon the lives of children and young people the world over. TiE is a discrete art form committed to using theatre as a tool for learning that resonates with participants lives in order to explore the relationship between self and society, to explore the human condition, and reach new social understandings about the world they live in.
Resonance, Image, and Dramatic Action lie at the heart of theatre-in-education. In The Relevance of Education Jerome Bruner states that “Young children can be said to know things without being able to put what they know in words.” So, in this sense new knowledge must always be initially at least intuitive on some level, either visually or through some other sensorial perception. TiE praxis is premised on the dialectic of thinking feelingly and feeling thinkingly. This is what makes imaginative seeing so powerful, underlining the significance of Resonance, Image and Dramatic Action in theatre making.
Using Cooper’s new adaptation (for 7-11 y.o) of the traditional story of Little Red Riding Hood, this practice-based Masterclass will explore the art form of TiE in its 60th anniversary year through contemporary practice.”
